First ESACH Meeting 2018 Girona / Cloister of the Faculty of Letters

"Our Heritage, Our Stories"

From the 7th - 9th June ESACH members from all over Europe participated in the meeting of ESACH at the University of Girona. Students from Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and Portugal came together to discuss the different views on cultural heritage, to reorganize the task division within the ESACH network, to develop a new coordination committee, to present their individual projects in the EYCH (European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018), to get to know the University of Girona and of course to discover the city and the history of Girona and Catalonia.

Thursday (7th June) we were welcomed cordially by the Vice-Rector for Strategic Projects, Dr. Josep Calbó and were given a presentation of the Heritage Campus and Master by the coordinator. Later on we were informed about the Erasmus+ programm for traineeships by the Delegate for International Masters at the University of Girona and by the Head of the International Office in Girona.

Furthermore Marius Müller (ESACH Founding President) presented the backround, the (future) projects and the vision of ESACH. Afterwards we reorganized the task division within the ESACH network and discussed the future structure of ESACH and the coordination committee, which is the main organ of ESACH.

Friday (8th June) ESACH members gave a presentation about their recent projects and the participants of the Berlin Cultural Heritage Summit gave us an outlook on their presentation:

In the afternoon we visited the archeological site Empúries (L'Escala, Costa Brava), where the Romans and Greeks managed to live peacefully together 2000 years ago. Besides we were given a presentation about the ongoing research and had the opportunity to spend some time at the beach nearby.

Friday (9th June) we were discovering the European Cultural Heritage in Girona and had a guided tour through the city:

Special thanks to the "Campus e-MTA: Euro-Meditteraean Tourism and Water Campus" at the University of Girona and Margarida Casadevall, who made the meeting possible and gave the ESACH members the unique opportunity to connect, to work on future cultural heritage projects and to discover the beautiful city of Girona.

This first ESACH Meeting was hosted by the Univesitat de Girona and organized by the members of ESACH Girona.

Special thanks to the partner "Campus e-MTA: Euro-Mediterranean Tourism and Water Campus".
